Our Faith

Despite her teachings, spirituality, history, and traditions, the Orthodox Church remains relatively unknown in North America. The best way to discover Orthodox Christianity is to attend a worship service in an Orthodox Church. We follow the ancient principle that “the rule of prayer is the rule of faith” (lex orandi, lex credendi). Our theology and spirituality are expressed through prayer and worship. At the same time, an abundance of literature can be obtained about our Orthodox Faith, both in print and on the internet. However, as with anything on the internet, there are good and poor resources. Perhaps the most accessible book on our faith, besides the Bible, is “The Orthodox Church”, by Timothy (Metropolitan Kallistos) Ware, published by Penguin Press (ISBN:978-0141980638). Excerpts from this book may be accessed here. Another excellent introduction to our Faith are a series written by Fr. Thomas Hopko, which may be accessed here.
